Funeral Planning
Ideas for planning a funeral
We will work with you to design and arrange the exact type of funeral that you and your family feel is right for the person who has died. Our aim is to work with you to make it special, and then make it all happen smoothly.
Ideas for planning a funeral
Most people believe that the funeral should be designed to honour the life of the person who has died, but that it is FOR those left behind. Where to begin? At Family Tree we begin with the life and times of the deceased, and what was important to them. The different elements of the funeral will emerge from this, and in conversations with you.
Coffins
You can choose from our wide range of coffins in traditional and environmentally friendly materials. Our aim is to ensure that every detail of the funeral is taken care of, and exactly as you would like.
Urns
The 'cremated remains' are returned to us in a cardboard box. If you want we also have a wide selection of containers for the ashes made from a variety of materials. Finding an urn that is appropriate for your loved one is of course a personal choice for you and your family, and can depend on what you plan to do with the ashes afterwards.
Hearses
One of the choices in planning a funeral is the physical transportation of the coffin to the church, cemetery or crematorium.
You can make a statement with a classic Daimler, a silver Landrover, a Morris Traveller or a motorcycle sidecar hearse - traditional with a black hearse - or unfussy with our dark blue Mercedes estate car adapted for this very purpose.
Limousines provide you and your family with the opportunity to travel together in a smart black limousine, people carrier, or even a coach.

Funeral Pre-Payment Plans
If you have a life expectancy of more than a few years, if you have the savings, and if you feel you can tackle the job (or get someone else to), it makes good sense to plan and pay for your funeral in advance.

Funeral Costs
Unsurprisingly, funeral costs reflect what you want and the different elements that you have chosen. You can find a 'direct cremation' on Google for as little as £950 - £1,350. While we charge £1,695, we provide a vastly different experience of personal care for both you and the person who has died. Your choice! See below for more detail.
